Elevate Lake hosts 5th Annual Partners for Success: Skills Showcase

Release Date: March 05, 2018

CLERMONT –  Elevate Lake, in partnership with Lake County Schools, Lake-Sumter State College, Lake Technical College and Beacon College, is hosting the 5th Annual Partners for Success: Skills Showcase from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28 at the Clermont Arts & Recreation Center, 3700 S. U.S. Highway 27, Clermont.

The networking event is designed to bring together students and business leaders with the goal of opening a dialogue that focuses on employment. Students and soon-to-be graduates trained in various technical trades will mix and mingle with business professionals during the forum.

“The Skills Showcase will offer an opportunity for local business owners and the future workforce to come together, learn from each other, and continue to develop a communitywide approach toward success,” said Erika Greene, interim director of the Agency for Economic Prosperity. “Businesses are encouraged to tour the students’ displays, ask questions and share their staffing needs and expectations.”

Local entrepreneurs and Human Resources professionals are invited to attend and experience the innovative training Lake County students are receiving through career academies and educational programs, which include culinary arts, manufacturing, mobile application development and more. Business leaders are encouraged to come prepared to hire graduating students; offer internships, job shadowing or on-the-job training; or become mentors.
